96-00 Exhausts 4dr vs 2dr
Hey, new person here (Prowler from hondaswap and hondashowoff). got a question that has given me mixed answers elsewhere.
i just got a 98 civic ex 5 speed 4dr. a friend has a 96 civic 2dr (either lx or ex, not positive) and he has a greddy catback. what would be involved in swapping the exhaust over to my car? i realize if he has an lx, then he has a longer pipe to the cat. but if he has an ex, what would be involved in making the exhaust fit? is it worthwhile to do?
is there a chassis difference between the 2dr and 4dr? would the bends in the pipe from about axel back be the same?
many thanks to all those who respond

Sedan and coupe have the same dimensions (length and wheelbase) despite what some people might tell you. I even have proof in my Helms manual. There's a lot of stuff going around about how the sedans are longer than the coupes and ****. It's not true! Even my local tuner shop is spreading this misinformation around. Hell, I originally wanted a coupe because I thought the sedan was longer, but in the Honda brochure they were the same length, so I gave in for a sedan.

underneath is the same, just different upper sheet metal. I've put my old greddy sp(made for 92-00 coupes) on 4-dr civics and 4-door tegs without any issues.

Ha! Thought so. Now one of the questions that has been bothering me has finally been answered. I even compared the length of my sedan and my cousins coupe..they were the same, but yet I was told my MANY people they are different!
..adam..

Yeah, a lot of people spread around some bullshit info. ******* ... even COMPTECH--of all people!--told my local shop that the coupe is longer than the sedan. I respect them and love their products, but they should know better than to say this. I was in the market for a cat-back awhile back and went to a local shop to ask about the Comptech cat-back and get a price quote. They called Comptech because they only had applications listed for the coupe and wanted to verify that it'd fit my sedan. Comptech told them it would not fit my sedan because the sedan's bumper is too long. For one, I have personally swapped rear bumpers with a '99 Si, and it worked fine for both of us. (The Si owner had a '96-'98 rear lip, and he wanted to see what it would look like on his car.) But anyway, yeah, the sedan is not longer than the coupe. I'm tired of people saying that!
