96-00 EX intake and exhaust Mani...
The 96-00 EX motor is the D16y8 right?
putting the Y8 intake and cat less exhaust mani on my Y7 should give me a little extra power right?
If any body has eigther of these parts laying around let me know and we can work out a little deal

It Does Work!!!
Me and My Step-dad did that same swap for a guy with a 94 civic hatch!!!
To tell you the truth it makes a lot of power! 2 weeks after the swap we went to the track here which is only an 8th mile and my friend wanted to run the hatch against a friends Type-S and the Type-s only beat him by 1/4 of a second!!!

doesn't look like anybody really gave you an answer. So here goes
96-00 EX IS the d16y8
Y8 intake manifold is like the type r manifold for d-series, or something like that.
Being catless it would be a more straight through flow, but i couldnt tell you if it gives you more power. You will probably throw a code because of your o2 sensor too.

I have the both the intake, and exhaust manifold. The intake manifold is for an auto, so you should only buy it if the car you're putting it on is an auto (check the link in my sig for more info).
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or confirm that when doing the D16Y8 intake manifold install, you should buy one for an auto or manual tranny depending on the wether or not the tranny in your car is auto or manual, right?

it has to do with the way the iacv is mounted and the throttle body. they are both different on the auto and manual version of the y8.

yes that will "fit" but you have to do something different with the fuel lines and I think you have to do something else wierd since it's obd1 and your car is obd2

It does not matter what tranny you have if your car has a Y7 engine and you are putting a Y8 manifold on. Here's the issue:
The Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) on all Y7 motors is a 3-wire type attached to the throttle body. This same t/b & IACV is used on the Y8 auto trans model. But the Y8 manual trans uses the standard t/b with a separate 2-wire IACV mounted on the back of the manifold.
All ECU's except for the Y8 auto and Y7 use the 2-wire type IACV.
You can use either manifold...BUT...if you are keeping the Y7 ecu it helps to get the automatic Y8 manifold and t/b setup, it goes on easiest. If you do get the manual version you need to block off the IACV holes in the back, put your Y7 t/b on the Y8 manifold and install the Y8 rotor & spring on the Y7 t/b. I would actually go this route in case later you want to convert to OBD1 or use the Y8 ecu, they you have the option of using the 2-wire setup.

They are the same as using a Y8 manual trans version, only the Y8 is better so I'd stick with that. I really like mine, it helps breathing alot from 5K to redline.

alright cool. You sound like you got some experience already with this. I am not planning on building this motor. i am just looking for a little cheap horse power right now. So I think I would rather just pick up the Y8 auto mani if it will be easier. With the mani what else am I going to need? Throttle body, dizzy, anything else?

One thing though, make sure you get yourself an intake pipe for the EX before you do this, since yours won't fit anymore...
Also, if your manifold doesn't have the throttle cable bracket you'll need one before completing the install. It's only like $6 or so from a dealer.

also the z6 manifold off 92-95 ex/si is a very good manifold also, much arguement has occured over if the y8 is better than it or not, i say flip a coin or go for whats cheaper for you to get

The intake runners are different, it's been said that the Y8 is better for midrange power due to the asymmetrical ports, while the Z6 is better for top end becuase it's symmetrical.
