Default Is the 96-00 DX Bottom End The Same As The 96-00 EX Bottom End

Just like the topic says I just need to know if they are the same. If they are not what is the difference? Any help is needed.

Liter wise yes, all 96-00 SOHC engines are 1.6L.
Piston wise, I'm not 100% sure.

Pistons have a different displacement (dish).

That's it.

Isn't there a oil return line or something like that on the EX engine? (this may be only for the b-series engines.)
D16Y8 is the 96-00 EX engine (definitely)
D16Y7 is the 96-00 DX engine if I am not mistaken (not exactly sure)

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 2camsaam &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Isn't there a oil return line or something like that on the EX engine? (this may be only for the b-series engines.)</TD></TR></TABLE>

It looks like you're getting an LS/B20 VTEC engine scenrio mixed up with a SOHC w/VTEC head scenerio.

For SOHC engines, there's no oil feed problems at all, since all of the D-heads are compatible with D-bottom ends, SOHC respectively. Vis a Vi, a B-series VTEC head on a non-vtec block HAS oil feed-to-the-head issues which needs the aide of LS/VTEC lines (oil plumbing). Not to mention slight headgasket modification.....where SOHC's headgaskets do not need any mod'ing.
