96-00 Dash harness compatibility

I picked up a 97 civic ex shell recently and after I was done swapping in a motor, I've found out that it has some burnt dash harness wires (Fuel main relay wires) and obviously fuse 15 keeps popping. I know i can fix the ones that I can visibly track but to be safe, I want to replace an entire dash harness since i'm selling it to my little cousin and dont want her stuck on a road lol..
Now I have searched and searched but so far, what ive found is obviously different harness part numbers on sedan/coupe and hatches. Then of course, there is LX/DX/EX with manual/auto differences. Its been pain in a butt so far to find exact model that I have which is 0bd2A 96-98 coupe manual all power harness. Has anyone swapped a different model harnesses and are they just minor differences that can be repinned etc. I.E Can i use harness from a sedan in my coupe as long as its manual/all power? Thanks in advance.

I think you can use a harness from a manual HX coupe. Sedan will have some extra plugs for the rear doors but it may work. It does have to be from a '96 - '98 though (except HX, those stayed OBD2A right through 2000)

That's exactly what I'm thinking (hoping) too with sedans .just extra plug for rear doors..all pick n pull in my area have nothing but sedans right now..you're right , I forgot about HX's ..they are all obd2a..

So are you asking about the dash harness or the firewall harness? There's a difference.

That's a good question..it's my first time dealing with this headache..I guess the one I need is whichever one that connects to ECU as well as fuel pump wires to the relay...

I see you were talking about power things so I'm going to assume the firewall harness. I never was able to confirm if the 96-98 harness was the same with a 99-00 but I can tell you it has a few missing provisions between an auto and manual, clutch pedal start-kill and cruise plugs missing, reverse is routed elsewhere ( you probably know ), you'll have to bypass the key thingie. If you're comfortable with disassembling the harness you can re-pin them.

I know Auto and manual is different..what I'm really trying to find out is whether I can use 96-98 sedan harness in my coupe..

Have you cross reference parts in both models on a honda oem site?

So it turned out that the damage on burnt wires isnt as bad as I thought and end up being just one wire that leads to the Engine bay fuse box which would be a simple fix..good news..However , it still baffles me that I was previously able to start the car without the fuel pump relay being plugged in because this wire along with a few others are from a brown plug that connects the fuel relay..except they were never plugged in since I got the shell and previously owner had fuse 7.5 instead of 15..after I did the motor swap , I was able to start the car (even thought took quite a few cranks) and later the fuse popped and car died..Any thoughts on that??
