Default 96-00 Civic removing rubber roof strips???

OK i just got my car painted and it looks awesome. the problem is those rubber strips (one on each side) that go the whole length of the roof still look dull and ugly. anyone ever take these off? if so how do i do it and can i re-use them (if i paint them for example) are these expensive?
thank guys

Yes.

For 2dr: $47.30 right side, $31.33 left side, total $78.63 + tax
For 3dr: $42.20 per side, total $84.40 + tax
For 4dr: $43.45 per side, total $86.90 + tax

Do yourself a favor and buy a Helm factory service manual here if you intend to work on your own car. It's the best $69 (or less, used) you will ever spend.

Tape off the area around the gutters really well, and then ...

Use some of this:

And then dye it with:

we just used some of that on my friends EF tonight and 15 years of oxidation was removed after about 3 applications. best 4.50 he has ever spent.

that back to black stuff works good...work it in and then buff it out after you let it sit...

OR, if you dont mind taking the time to tape off your car and spend the 5 bucks for a can of paint to paint them like i did a year ago...might seem too much, but my moldings still look pretty new after a year

Back to Black sucks. It doesn't last very long, and it's like using watered down spooge to dress your trim. Gets about the same results as baby oil.

It doesn't "suck"; it's just not made for this particular purpose. It's a detailing product, not a restoration product.

I know that, I detail quite a bit. I don't even use it for detailng purposes. There's other products that cost the same or slightly more that yield far more positive results. For instance, I use meguiar's high gloss tire gel on my front lip and sideskirts, and then use their NXT tech protect on the rest of my trim and black moulding. I'm aware that there are also better products than these, but for the ammount of rain and odd weather we get where I live, there's no point to them unless it's the middle of august.

Also, the name itself is misleading. Sure, it's Back To Black ... for about 24 hours.

Does it hurt the paint if it gets on the panels?

Thanks in advance
