Is a firm 1-2 shift normal on this generation civic?

I'm familiar with the 94-97 accord and how firm their shifting was, leading to softer shifting on the 98-02 accords which caused the transmission to wear out their clutch packs quicker.

Does that put the 96-00 civic transmission in the family of 94-97 accord time period?

This trans in my civic was actually replaced before I got it, so I'm assuming it's lower mileage

Have you checked the fluid? Mine does this when its a little low, it has a small leak I dont care to fix

Yup, checked it and actually did a drain and refill with it at the correct level.

I wouldn't exactly call it bad, just very firm and crisp. I personally prefer it like that rather than sloppy and long

it shouldn't feel differently than any other gear. my winter beater does it, it is a sign of bad things to come.
