Icon2 95 ex w/ jdm b16b ? About tap noise

K, here is the situation, I'm hearing what sounds like a valve tap coming from the dizzy side on the intake cam. I pulled out my cams to check my lma's and they were all good, the timing is right on. I know my CTr valve springs have an inner and outer spring, how common is it to break an inner spring?
The cams and rockers showed no sighns of anything hitting. My next step is to take the plugs out, take the valve cover off and turn the motor manually and see if I can get a better idea exactly where the tap is coming from. I'm hoping it's not a bent valve.... Is there any way to check for bent valves without taking my head off?

Thanks for your time.

Slow down turbo!

try not to dis-assemble anything else.
Did you check your valve clearance?
That might be the issue if this hasnt been checked a while after a cam swap.
or headwork.
check to make sure those are still within spec.
when reinstalling the cams take care to torque all of the cam caps with the proper sequence and torque specs.

Well from my limited experience when a valve is bent a compression test could reveal it. Cranking the motor manually you'll hear air hissing through the bad valve, and the cylinder compression will be way off

I was asking myself the same thing and concluded he wouldn't pull the cams out without checking the clearance first. I could be wrong. Some people are special

Cams are stock ctr never been replaced , have too check valve clearances, and I tourqed the cam covers according to factory sequence. Could a loose timing belt do it aka. Ad tensioner. I also heard if your spark plug is loose you will get a tap or knock sound... Well gonna check clearances tommrow and go from there... Anything else I should check. I am also gonna recalibrate my tensioner to rule that out. I will post my findings along with some pics tommrow

I'm at a loss... Valve clearances in Honda's are in constant need of adjustment.

I was going too do the valve lash adjustment before I checked the lma-s then I figured I would just do it after I made sure my lma:s were good.... Being I would have everything apart I wasesnt sure if I would mess with the adjustments while taking out the rockers...

anytime you mess with the cams or LMAs you will need to recheck your lash

Def dont take out the rocker arms/shafts unless you know that there are parts that are needing replacement.

always start with the basics, and work your way up the diagnostic ladder

Glad you're back on your wheels again

I know you fixed your problem which is great, but an old school trick to check for bent valves is to hold a piece of regular lined paper up to the exhaust while its running, and if the paper is constantly being pushed away your good, but if it pushes out and sucks in (making a flapping noise) you very well could have a bent valve.

Nice I'd like to see this in action.
