I have been working on getting my son's 95 EX coupe to idle correctly for about a month now. I have almost all of it sorted, but I now have one last issue.

When I start the car in the morning, the FITV idles the car at like 1700RPM. But after I take off, for the first two to three miles of driving, the car will not idle high enough and will stall if the AC is on. After the car drives past the three mile mark, it will now idle like a dream, with or without the AC.

It's almost like the FITV closes up too fast. If it stayed open a bit longer, this would not be an issue. That being said, this car reaches operating temperature (at least by the gauge) after driving it half a mile.

I've checked the temp sensor and it reads per spec. I checked the temp sender, and it is also within spec.

What else can I check? Is it possible that the FITV is just not working properly? I've cleaned it and adjusted it, but it has not helped.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Clean and adjust the FITV. Click link in my signature.

Also consider replacing the PCV valve. Any CEL codes?
