Default 95 ej1 over heating

i have a 95 civic coupe ex. i jumped the fan and it worked but it wont turn on while the car is running. i checked the fuses, and the relay. the wiring to the fan looks good too. the engine over heats at idle but cools down while i am driving. which is just air passing through the radiator. what could it be? radiator is full of coolant. the fan just wont turn on. the fan on the condenser does.

So the fan does not turn on once the temp goes up?

I was just looking for that and I can't find it on older civics. Let me see if I can find anything else for it.

i went out and got a new fan switch and put it on and am still not getting any fan movement. so that means ive gone over the fuse, relay, fan switch, coolant. and the wiring appears good, but i would think that is the only thing left. is there anything else to check

ok this is gonna sound bootleg but just do it .. it worked for me .... take a garden hose cut off the end where the water comes out... now take off your top radiator hose at the radiator not the block.. now jam the cut hose end into the radiator and let the hose rip this will force feed water through the motor and push it back out the hose that you disconnected and you will most likely see milky air filled water running out i did that 5 months ago and my car hasnt overheated since plus im a hvac service tech so i figured id get the air out of my engine the same way i do in a hydronic heating system lol

ok the fan switch was replaced, relays and fuses are good, wiring appears good, the fan doesnt come on at all and the car overheats. it has 230k miles. would the thermostat sensor cause for the fan not to come on? also when i replaced the fan switch the clip for the harness didnt go back on right. it didnt clip but was on all the way. if i replace the thermostat sensor and that doesnt work either then what? its my friend's(zbass06) civic i have been helping him out with it

im telling you try what i said if there is air in there the sensor wont read the water temp because of an air pocket.. i know it sounds nuts but its gonna work .. but hey do it whatever way you want

there is a way to hook up the fan so when your car is on its stay on and when you cut the car off it goes off i'll try to see how i did it but thats just a short cut you might wanna do it the right way so go with what they said then you can do what i did if you want too

is your thermostat opening? The fan switch is after the thermostat, if it never gets coolant it won't tell the fans to come on.
