Here`s a question, when was the last time you changed the plugs, wires, air and fuel filters, checked the dizzy, and all that good stuff?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say never. Do the tune-up. It can't hurt.

If you don`t know when the last one was done, do the tune up. Change the plugs, wires, fuel and air filter, check your dizzy rotor, check the cap and the dizzy itself for any cracks or leaks. And the last things are obvious, check oil and the tranny fluid.
