Default 95 dx to vtec question

hi all, i have a 95 dx hatch and i want to make it into vtec. i dont want to run wires so for that i read that i have to get the enginge harness from a EX or SI with a p28. i have the p28 and i found a harness from a SI, my question, is that all i need? or do i need an inside harness as well that goes to the ecu? the guy who is selling it said its only the outside not the inside. i searched and didnt find any answers all i can find is "get an SI harness". thanks in advance.

you need the wiring harness for the engine (im assuming your putting a d16z6 in?)

then you either need to, wire vtec from the passenger side shock tower plugs to the ECU, OR use the wiring harness from an ex or si civic, or any 1992 made civic

all 1992 made civics were prewired for vtec, post 92 were not

my suggestions is use a d16z6 harness (assuming thats what your putting in)

and just wire it in from the shock tower to the ECU, that is much easier and much cheaper

coo thanks, that makes sense. is there something i have to look for to know its a VTEC harness and not a NON VTEC one? i know easiest way would be to compare it to mine but im picking it up after work and i dont have my car with me.

VTEC harness has wires at ECU harness pins D6 and A4.
non-VTEC harness does not.

to clarify which pins those are:

If you're slightly familiar with the plug layout.. just after the branch where the 2 plugs for the dizzy are (rectangle 2 wire and rectangle 7 pin?) there is a plug for the temp guage (1 wire black) temp sender (ECU, round 2 wire) then you'll see reverse switch (rectangle 2 wire grey plug) And the VTEC wires (1-1wire rectangle plug, grey for the solenoid, and 1-2 wire round green connector for the VTEC pres switch..)

I don't know too many plugs on a honda harness that have a a round GREEN plug with 2 wires sticking out of it..
