95 del Sol d15b swap. smoking.
Hey guys. I just swapped a JDM d15b into my 95 del Sol Si and it smokes. I ran a compression test and it ran a perfect 175 PSI on all four cylinders. I pulled out the spark plugs today and the #1 cylinder was dry but I found oil in the other three. I was thinking valve stem seals? Any other ideas? I just spend 2 1/2 weeks without a car so I'm not too excited about pulling it back out to send it back for the warrantee. but I will if I have to... thanks in advance

they make a air compressor fitting that screws into the spark plug spot, then you turn it on and disassemble the valve springs and retainers. once you get those out you can pull the valve stem seals and replace them, this way you don't have to pull the whole motor, but like you stated, if it's under warranty it may benefit you to send it back, or you could send them the bill or try to get refunded for half or all of the motor, depending on how they're warranty system works and what condition they "claim" your motor will be in upon recieving it.

Valve stem seals are easiest changed by the way described above with the air compressor fitting that screws into the spark plug holes. With a D15B, did you buy it from HMotorsOnline.com? If so, call them up - they are usually pretty good to deal with from what I have seen.

stem seals dont take long at all with the compressor fitting. seals probably dried out from sitting for a while im assuming? Doing it yourself would get you back on the road ALOT faster then sending the motor back.
Id just fix it yourself. while you are at it adjust your valves and get new valve cover gasket / o-rings for the plug holes.

I got it off torontojdm.com. I got just the JDM D15B longblock.
I checked this morning and it really didn't act up until it warmed up. Then I saw some smoke when I stomped on it about 10 miles away from my house. I don't know if that matters at all..

I ran seafoam through the vacuum lines a few days ago and this morning and on the way home the smoke really wasn't that bad. I could still feel it struggling to accelerate but that could just be from fouling the plug. I ran seafoam through the vacuum lines again today and it smoked for SEVERAL miles. then it died off when I took it easy on it. Is there any way it could just be carbon built up and/or non adjusted valves?

that's exactly what I was thinking. I spent 2 1/2 weeks without my car so I'm not all too thrilled about pulling that motor BACK out and being without it for another week.

I'm thinkin about pulling the head and replacing those valve guide seals, head gasket, and getting ARP head studs. Any suggestions on the cheapest places for and OEM or Cometic head gasket and the ARP head studs?

Also, I've got my z6 head. I can clean it up, port and polish it, and install that real quick instead of waiting on my d15b head. What're your guys' opinions on that?
