Default 95 civic wont start - lots of details

so i bought a 95 civic dx/lx(d15) coupe 5 speed from a lady for $400 because it had a broken water pump and timing belt. before i got it from her she took it to a shop and they replaced the water pump, timing belt, and thermostat. after that, the car still didnt start and thats why she sold it to me.

so we got it home and tried to start it and it sounds like it cranks fast. took off the timing belt cover and everything was moving fine. removed the spark plug on cylinder 1 and put a screwdriver in there and manually spun the crank and cylinders(at least cylinder 1 i guess) are moving. took off the dizzy cap and the rotor wasnt moving. so i looked inside the oil cap hole and found out that the whole head wasnt moving. so i took off the cam gear and the key was broken, so it was just free spining. got another one from the jy and put it on there, reset the timing, and now the head and block both move. checked for spark and all 4 cylinders are getting spark. while i was at it i got a compression tester and all cylinders get between 120-130 except for cylinder 3 which is like 90(did the test with other cylinders plugged).

now for fuel. when i turn the key to the on position, i hear the fuel pump go on then click and the CEL goes out as it should. i opened up the top bolt on the fuel pump and gas does TRIKLE out. is it supposed to squirt? i also replaced the fuel pump.

i had to replace the battery because it was in badddddd condition. im using a battery charger to keep the new one charged because of all the cranking. when ever i crank it sounds like its cranking a little fast and like freely. every couple rotations, it sounds like it wants to fire.

this weekend im going to remove one of the injectors to see if they are spraying. after that i dont know what else to do besides get a new motor...

Fast cranking means no compression because of bent valves. It's also explained by the fact that the timing belt broke and probably bent a valve.

I wouldnt buy a new motor. Just pull your head off and check for bent or broken valves and take the head down and it get done at a local machine shop. 90 in 3 should be enough but you need to watch it over the next 6 months and make sure its not burning oil or losing more compression.

Save your self a lot of headaches by replacing the entire engine.

if you really dont want to replace the engine do some checking first. make sure none of the cylinder walls are cracked. if thats not the problem then it was the head gasket. clean all the mdx out of the engine MDX (inside joke) and put a new head gasket on it, also check the valves more thorough. you will definately be able to tell when you look at the stems if they are bent but honda motors are tolerance motors meaning in most cases if the timing belt breaks the valves do hit the pistons in turn bending them.

Everytime i take a head off the antifreeze always goes inside the pistons, i never can figure it out but when it loses its suction i find thats where the antifreese goes everywhere. that antifreeze looks really green though so its most likely new meaning something is eff'd. save yourself the hassle and swap engines.
