Default 95 civic shakes above 60 mph

i got a 95 civic coupe i recently threw in a b16 in it i made sure that the axles were tighten to specs i need to get an alignment done but its not that bad but for some reason and i didnt have this problem before car starts to shake real bad when i pass 60 anything below that its ok but above that it shakes also when you lift the front end car has alot of play even when steering locked any ideas and ive been told it could be the rack and pin

Have you checked outer tie rods? I had a bad one once and it caused alot of vibration at higher speeds.

Wheel bearings ok? I think in the service manual theres a listed tolerable amount of play in the steering wheel.. Could also need an alignment

Bad wheel bearing or bad lower front control arm bushings. Guaranteed! Same happened to my hatch after my first swap fixed the problem with both then later went all Gsr suspension.

You might also want to have the wheel balances checked.

Yea I would start with a wheel balance. Do ya have the same wheels and tires as before the swap?

I had the wheel bearings go bad in my new hatch once already and I had them go bad in my srt-4 and it would shake so bad you thought something was going to fall off

The only reason I dont think its a wheel bearing is because he didnt have the issue before the swap and he might notice the vibration before 60 mph if it was.

I would guess tires/wheels. I had the same problem with an old car of mine, needed new tires cause they were just crap even though they had plenty of tread left. I had another car that I left in a garage for a year or two and it left flat spots on the tires from sitting for so long. Had to replace them too.

You say the un-balance began after you "recently threw in a b16 in it".
Did you install different axles?
Was this a swap from a D series to a B? Then new half shafts could be the problem.

Tie rod ends would be the same as you had before the B16 install. So I would suspect anything that was not on your car before the swap.

It could be a bent rim.

It could also be uneven tire wear as a result of the car being out of alignment. I knew a guy who had this happen to him. It used to only vibrate at high speeds. Then it started to vibrate at lower and lower speeds as the tires became more worn. In the end, it turned out one of his front tires was worn all the way down to the cords in one spot causing the vibration.

well it aint the axles cause i pulled the motor from the exact same car and droped it in and before that car got totaled from a rear end that car had no problems so mine shouldnt have any thing wrong but whats funny is that it got alot worse today so imma try and take it in to get an alignment today see if that works ill update imma post some pics of the swap too
