95 civic ex idle issues! HELP!

idle problems coming from wrong ecu
I just bought a preowned 1995 civic ex, my first honda. it has the d16z6 vtec sohc engine. its having really bad idling problems. ive replaced the iacv, etc sensor, fuel filter and cleaned my throttle body with no luck. I also checked the voltage of every other sensor that could cause it and they all have the right voltage. ive also checked for vacuum leaks and i havent found one yet. I can smell unburnt fuel when im idling. The ac and my lights seem to make it worse. i checked my ecu today and i have a p06 ecu when i should have the p28. could the wrong ecu cause problems like mine? i just ordered a new one so ill let yall know how it goes.

did you bleed the cooling system after you installed the iacv? can also be plugs/wires/dizzy. definitively a good start putting in proper ecu tho

yeah i replaced the plugs and the wires are new, and bled the system times. sorry i didnt mention that. ive done everything except for a compression check and timing check.

in park it has a huntung idle, but when its in drive, with ac on and lights, it idle really low, kinda like its misfiring. but it runs fine without accessories on.

well continue with what you're doing with the ecu, and do compression check and check your timing, hopefully that helps.

Re: idle problems coming from wrong ecu
It's possible that your ecu is chipped and running a p28 map. Take it out and open the case to check for a chip. A p06 can work just fine if its chipped and converted for vtec.
Or since you already ordered a new ecu, just sell the p06.
You should check the cam and ignition timing asap too. That will definitely effect idle.

no its not chipped. My civic is almost completely stock...for now. all i have is an intake right now. All my money and time have been going into figure out this problem.

95 civic ex idle issues! HELP!
im having idling issues on my 95 civic ex. it has a d16z6 vtec sohc engine it.
ive replaced:
ECU
IACV
ECT
spark plugs
map sensor
cleaned:
FITV
Throttle body
also checked the voltage on all other sensors.
I could get a voltage on my o2 sensor, so im thinking this is the problem. no CEL codes either.

Re: 95 civic ex idle issues! HELP!
Cap and rotor take it off and inspect, see if you see dust, corrosion on the metal terminals, rotor look at the tip see if it worn etc.
Wires the only way to really test is with an ohm meter.

Re: 95 civic ex idle issues! HELP!
I would watch some of aftermarket caps. I have seen to many of them have contact points made of crap metal that chips away. Causing bad ignition/weak spark when everything appears to fine.
