95 Civic Dx - soft brake pedal falls to floor
Sup guys. Got a 95 civic dx coupe so here is the problem every time when i push the brakes in the pedal is way to soft and goes all the way in and doesn't brake how its so post to. And if i pump the pedals sometimes gets hard and other times it goes all the way. There is no leaks no where because i have checked several times. "I was told to replace the Brake Booster with master cylinder" but before i do i want to make sure with others thoughts. All help is appreciated.
Another thing is im going to replace my rear drums with rear disc's coversion so if its my whole brake booster with master cylinder that is bad which one is best to use for all 4 disc brakes on my coupe with no modifications

Re: 95 Civic Dx Brake Issues
brake booster hardly go bad. just the mc. but i recommend you swap to integra brake booster and mc non abs if applicable to your coupe. brakes feel is night and day. since you are going to do a rear disc might as well upgrade the front knuckles and calipers to
i used an abs mc and brake booster from a 96 ls but i also had to make my own lines to fit my prop valve hence abs lines runs straight to a abs unit.

No one asked the obvious question?
Did you PROPERLY bleed the brakes?
A failed booster doesn't make your pedal soft, it's the opposite. It would make it rock solid. The internal diaphragm would rip and give you no assistance, hence the hard braking.
A failed master shouldn't cause soft pedal either. If you think about it, even if say the fronts get blocked, you'd have full rear braking. There should still be pressure on the pedal.
Soft pedal would be air in the lines, low fluid or a leak. Do a COMPLETE bleed before wasting money. Complete meaning take out your master and bench bleed it. Google if you don't know how. Then PROPERLY bleed the rest of the brakes, starting from the wheel FARTHEST from the master cylinder.
Good luck.

Re: 95 Civic Dx Brake Issues
If i pump the brakes at times it gets solid.
Most of the times soft in. and again i have rear drums. not discs.
Id rather take it get it done right... how much would it be to bleed everything at a shop/

Re: 95 Civic Dx Brake Issues
In answer to your question about which mc/booster to use for a rear disc conversion: 15/16 off of a 94-01 dc integra w/o abs. Or snag one off of a 5th or 6th gen si. Make sure you swap in a 40/40 proportioning valve too.

its super easy to bleed brakes. just do it yourself with a friend to pump and hold down the brake pedal. itll take like 30 min tops. bleed passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, then driver front. i would bleed each caliper until a steady stream shoots out.
