95 Civic - Climate Control light Issues
I have a 95 Civic Ex and I need some help on fixing my climate control. I pulled it out the other day to swap out some bulbs. I pulled it out. Replaced the bulbs. One bulb base broke because it had been messed with before and was probably partially broke anyways. Any ideas on where i can get some of these? Also i put it all back together and it still won't light up. I'm wondering if i need to do some soldering. Any ideas? Anybody else had to deal with this? If any body has any ideas i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Climate Control Issues
You can find replacement bulbs at local auto parts stores. You can also purchase them online.
Do the cluster lights work?
Is the dimmer switch dialed up to full intensity?
Do the bulb sockets get voltage?
What seems to be needing soldering? Post pictures.

This is a common issue with older civics. I have had the bulbs work and then completely stop, and then work fine after hitting a bump in the road, etc. Once you know that your bulbs are good I would look at any connections (where bulbs connect, where the harness plugs in, etc) to see if there is an issue there. Good luck!

Oh look, I can change this

^ Hey this is good to know. My CC bulbs are out also, but haven't had a chance to replace yet (busy with other mods). It does seem odd that BOTH bulbs are out, so it might be a bad connection somewhere.
OP, you can test your bulbs in your gauge cluster - if you have a j-yard nearby you can pull some bulb bases out of a j-yard cluster. Bring a sample bulb base though since there are different sizes.

My left most CC bulb comes on and off with bumps in the road. Annoying...
Other one is rock solid. Hondas are great except the electrical gets flaky after a while.

I know the bulbs are good. Cluster lights work. Dimmer switch is up. I am gonna go test in with my volt meter to see if they are getting power. I've called every junk yard around and none of them have EGs. Kinda annoying. So i either have to order parts or drive a couple hours to good junk yards. I just put my stereo back in, and now it's not working. If it's not one thing it's another. I am gonna pull the control out again and get some pics for you guys. I am just guessing the board needs soldering cause idk what else it could be.
Fernando here is the write up i looked at to pull my CC.

one flaw on the write up. It's way easier to disconnect the connection behind the power supply farther under the dash like this guy did in his write up

Re: 95 Civic - Climate Control light Issues
Well i hard wired the bulbs and they worked for about 5 seconds. Then it blew a fuse and i replaced it, now they don't work again. I left plenty of wire on the circuit board so i could put them back on if i needed to but i can't get them to work by splicing them. I'm running out of ideas.....I'll have to try what you said deschlong when i get another day off work. Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks for all the input guys.

Re: 95 Civic - Climate Control light Issues
The best thing you can do is to solder in some LED's, my bulbs were dead since ages that's why I did that.
It's kind of tricky but they last almost forever instead of the bulbs and that way you don't have to pull out the pain in the *** climate control again.

Re: 95 Civic - Climate Control light Issues
Last weekend I removed my regular LED's (as seen above) and replaced them with a SMD LED stripe which looks OEM all the way + it has a perfect illumination.
All you need to do is cutting off both bulb fittings which will leave 4 red cables like on your pic (two on each side), two on one side can be left unused because you'll need only two red cables for the LED's, powerwise.
I can't remember which one was for ground and power but you can easily do it the other way around and it WILL work.
Make sure to super glue it or use hot glue on the soldered cables (prevent to wiggle = no broken soldering joints) and of course the led stripe itself!
Let me know if it was helpful
Pic will follow tomorrow

Re: 95 Civic - Climate Control light Issues
Hello.
I wanted to do this mod for ages, but with white leds on buttons instead. I striped my climate control but i dont understand much about electricity so i couldnt realise if i shall replace some resistor to swap the led.
How did you change from green to red? direct swap soldering?

There's no need for a pre-resistor to be build in, as it's already included in the PCB. I gotta tell you that soldering in the Button LED's is the easiest part!

Re: 95 Civic - Climate Control light Issues
Mine must be an intermittent open in the circuit somewhere because I replaced my weak battery recently and the light comes/stays on more now (current is able to hop the open easier?).
