I have a EG civic coupe with a b18c1 myself with chip, headers, CAI, crazy exhaust setup. For everyday more reliable hp, realiable driving, and a good (not crazy) setup on power it will be all motor. Or you can go to turbo which is more problems, but your get more horsepower, looks and sounds very sexxxxy. If you got the money to back it up to get it tuned and maintain then go to turbo man for sure.

build it right and you wont have to worry about turbo problems. What goals do you have? do you want it to be a daily driver with the ability to turn it up a notch and be a weekend warrior? Autocross or 1/4?

I say piece together a kit, and get it tuned.

what i was think of doing is put some dc headers cold air intake and few more things but all my friends are telling me you will spend over 1000 bucks and wont get **** for horsepower.

With the compression you quoted, forced induction is going to be the only way to get 270hp out of your car. Be it nitrous or a turbocharger, that's how you'll get there.

Go turbo.. You will have to work out some issues here and there but It's all worth it!

This isnt going to be what you want to hear but...

Sounds like the guy you bought it from was probably goin to go turbo, i bet it has little power with 9.1 compression but the idea to a lower compression is intended to not crack your cylinder sleeves when the power stroke occurs beeing that NA motors rely on pushing as much fuel and oxygen into the combustion chamber with little room left before ignighting they need a very high compression, while with a turbo, your air is being forced in, and what you can make up some compression by the psi amount you boost, if you get your timing right, you can safely boost around 8 lbs, but ive heard of b18's running 10-16 lbs on stock internals... sounds a bit redicolus to me... id rather spend more to save my motor than skimp on the vitals

All in all, youd be better off pulling those 9.1 compression pistons out, and throwing in some civic type r pistons on top of gsr rods and enjoy that untill you save up enough to reliably boost, then pull your 9.1 pistons out of the shed and just be thankful that you have a head start on your turbo setup, for right now, if that motor feels like we have all gone nuts because we think our hondas are fast its because of the compression ratio
