95 Civic 4-door Sedan Suspension Questions
Hi, I’m new to working on Honda’s (I’ve been working on Ford’s for 15 years) and I'm new to this forum. My girlfriend has a bone stock 95 Civic and it rides really rough, so I decided that we should replace her shocks/struts. I haven’t even had this car on jack-stands yet and I wanted to know what kind of suspension set up does a Civic have? Are there struts up front and shocks in the rear? If the front has struts do I need to use a spring compressor to remove the strut (like on Ford’s) or is the spring not under a lot of tension? I’d like to keep the car as close to oem/stock as possible can someone recommend a good replacement shock/strut brand and roughly what price I am looking at for parts? I was hoping someone here could share their suspension experience with me so I would be a little more prepared. Thanks so much for your answers.

Re: 95 Civic 4-door Sedan Suspension Questions (SubGenius)
welcome to the board,
1. you will need a spring compressor IF you are planning to change the springs ONLY
2. people here on the board look for performance suspension setup, so it will be pretty stiff for street use
3. there are tons of brands and setup you can go with a 95 Civic, SEARCH is the best thing to do..
4. If you are looking for OEM stuff, maybe HONDA shocks and springs would be good
5. If you are looking to lower your car, some aftermarket springs would be good to start
It really depends on what you need and how you drive your car.. and I have no idea what after market shocks would give you OEM feeling...
Shocks Brands: Koni, KYB, GAB, TOKICO, TANABE, TEIN... etc...
Springs Brands: Neuspeed, H&R, etc.......
the best thing for you is here:

SEARCH..
good luck
