95 b16 put into a 99 civic si
ok my friend blew his engine in his 99 civic si b16 but he is having trouble finding a low priced b16 obd2 but he found the obd1 b16 out of a 95 civic. my question is what all goes into switching motors?? i know this is a commen question but still i cant find answers.

if his 99 civic is running a usdm b16a, it will be obd2, best try to find a usdm b16 imo. Save the trouble converting because it'll be a pain to find parts for a jdm b16, trust me, took me a while to find a distributor because mine died. It was either a $400 Del Sol dizzy or ebay, I found one through ebay, but it's rare.

Yes you can run it on an OBD2 computer.
Evap is for emissions, without it there will be a Check Engine light. However it is just a couple hoses, which if you swap intake manifolds and use your buddy's stock intake manifold is a complete non issue.
To run the OBD1 motor you will need to re-use the stock distributor, replace the oil pump with an OBD2 version which you can get at www.inlinefour.com as well as re-use the OBD2 lower timing belt cover because it is notched for the crankshaft position sensor. you will also need to swap over the oil pump gear from the obd2 motor because it has a reluctor wheel for the crankshaft sensor.
Everything else is basically plug and play. the only thing i would recommend is re-using his stock alternator and bracket to avoid future headaches.

I've got a spare b16a2 here!! it's all taken apart waiting for a crankshaft and bearings, thats all. you could use the crankshaft from your friends buy some new bearings and build this one
