Hi. im driving a honda 1994 160i sohc. after driving for few minutes the car starts to jerk when I accelerate and the needle for the rev counter starts to bounce up and down. but when I switch off and on while driving it gets normal until later when the problem resurfaces. I have changed distributor, checked sensors and fuel pump

I do not receive any CEL codes. Today both Rev and Acceleration needles from the cluster bounce up and down. I have noticed that when Idle reaches 2000 RPM its when the needle goes wild. And this problem only occures when the car is warm. This is very frustrating. Any ideas what to check

clean the chassis grounds and the main battery ground. use sand paper and clean up the negative battery cable, and sand down the paint where the wires bolt to the body. there is one on the transmission running to the side of the wheel well, and another on the valve cover. do the same things there. then report back to us. wouldnt hurt to clean the ecu ground on the thermostat housing either.

By placing a jumper wire in the service check con nector. CEL only lights on continously.

Does the CEL turn on when the problem happens?

Sorry for late reply.....No I dont receive CEL codes when this problem occurs. I am not sure if this is related, the dash clock becames very very dim and reset itself after a few minites of driving. Currently cleaning all grounds and will test the car later...

Thanks to crazyhouse2011 everyone how assisted, I cleaned all grounds and wow....the problem is resolved. I cant believe its the same car. It runs smooth now, I have been driving for a week now.
