Icon3 94 Honda Civic Ex Cooling Fan Activating Late

Hi everyone,

I have a 1994 Honda Civic Ex 1.6 litre.

The radiator fan kicks on late, it will turn on when the meter reaches "H" on the remperature gauge and cool the radiator until the gauge needle reaches the middle (which seems to be the standard temperature for the car to operate at). However, the fan will turn back off and this point and the car will heat back up.

The car only heats up while I am idling, when I drive the cool air from the vents will cool down the radiator.

I have already tried replacing the radiator fan switch and the problem still persists.
Coolant levels appear to be fine and there are no visible leaks in the cooling system.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Did you bleed the cooling system properly?

Replace the fan switch, its going bad. In a few days it wont turn the fan on at all.

And why would you jump at a bad temp gauge? It would take some testing before I made that conclusion.

We already replaced the fan switch with a brand new one, but we didn't bleed the system of air.

If we didn't bleed the system, would it do this?

If there is enough air in the system, yes.

Alright I'll bleed the system and we'll see if that helps
