Default 94 hatch - struggles to start in morning, sluggish, cuts off while driving

I have a 94 civic HB and I'm having trouble with it.. First I had a CEL code 8 which is a TDC code.. I've replaced the distributor and ECM tho fix that.. Since replacing those parts the car runs a little weird.. It struggles to start in the morning time and it feels a little sluggish in 2nd and 3rd gear.. This past past Friday it cut off on me while driving.. On the side of the road I removed the 7.5 fuse off the relay box behind the battery and I managed to get it started.. I'm at my boiling point with this car. My friends at work have told me to get rid of it but I don't want to.. It's the first car I ever bought with my own money so it has a special place in my heart even though its all beat up and it has almost 266,000 miles on the odo.. So if any one here on Honda-tech can help me I would greatly appreciate it..

Thank u in advanced

So code 8 is cleared and no other CEL codes are currently thrown?

Have you done an ignition system tune up?

Have you replaced the fuel filter?

Are the mechanical and ignition timings set to spec?

Yes Ron I replaced the spark plugs, distributor, and the wires.. I also replaced the fuel pump and filter.. No other codes have been thrown.. How do I check to see if the mechanical and ignition timings are set to spec??

Start by checking the ignition timing with a timing light. There's a diagram describing the procedure in the FAQs sticky.

Hey Ron

I see that the diagram says that the timing should b 16 degrees before TDC.. How can I see that on the timing light?? I see that u live in Houston is there a chance that you could look at my car and see what's up wih it??
