Heat gun for the win and some patience. I removed tint from all 4 windows on the db7 because the tint was illegal, like >20%.

It wasn't too bad using the scraper, but I'll try the heat gun when I decide to do the rear windows too. Finally, I can see clearly through my windows!

I love tint too, don't get me wrong. But when it's scratched and torn up, bubbled up to the point of affecting my visibility, it's time to go! I probably won't spend the money to get it re-done; I'm not that worried about it.

So when I first bought this car, I stuck it up on stands and gave it a good look underneath. I noticed that the dude has put what looked like JB Weld on the end of the exhaust just forward of the muffler flange. The gasket at said flange was gone and it had a major leak. I knew this was going to become an issue later on.
Fast forward to about a week ago. The car had started to get louder and louder, so I knew the inevitable was well, inevitable... I, being proactive as F, got on FB Marketplace and found a dude not far from me with an Ebay catback for sale for $60. I'll take it! So it's been riding in the bed of my truck since. Last night I was on my way home in the civic, pulled up next to my GF at a stop light and revved on her (just being stupid since I know my D16 won't stand a chance against her 2.3 Mazda3 Hatch). She launched hard and I just eased off the line like I normally do. First gear was fine, and then halfway through Second, I heard a clunk and then I was hit with by a wave of disgusting, raspy 4 cylinder noise. My muffler has completely separated from the exhaust. Awesome! I'll tell ya, I've never felt like an obnoxious f**k while driving straight-piped V8s, but I was almost hiding from the outside world while I buzzed along in my Honda with no muffler to speak of. I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend! Fart Can FTW!

It's getting harder and harder to find stock parts that aren't in the same shape. The cat-back system I bought will hold me over until I decide to get my favorite: the Apexi WS2. I had that setup on my Prelude SH and absolutely loved it.

A small update. No issues (at least not pressing ones) at this point. I'm slowly building up a cache of suspension parts getting ready for spring/summer. I'm planning a big project day: all new suspension (lowering springs, new shocks, all bushings, LCAs, UCAs, balljoints, CV axles, etc). This past weekend I made it a point to actually do a full detail... I do detail work on the side, btw. I think it looks pretty good for a polished turd! I've been stressing over the price of wheels for a $1k car, so I got sick of it and pulled the stupid hub caps and painted my steelies. Embrace the steelies, love the steelies. I tried to post pics, but my work computer is making it difficult and I can't figure out which code to use... IMG, HTML, etc.
Geh.

Nope. You need to use the image uploader. We can't wrap IMG tags around URLs anymore.

Yes you can. We don't exactly encourage people to host their pictures elsewhere in case the hosting service disappears or the user deletes the pictures. IMG tag still works as it always did though, but that hosting service wont work properly.

xtrac1 would be hella triggered by the black wheels but I think they look great.

Wire wheel and acetone for prep then paint? Did you use a primer? Special paint?

thanks 94EG8

Not sure how I missed this reply. No special prep; I literally pulled the wheels, cleaned the hell out of them, taped off and painted them with gloss black Rustoleum.

A little update. I completely redid the suspension and brakes, all new parts, cheap used EGay fart can (I hate it, but it was only $50), new stereo, etc. I even found a decent set of fat fives about an hour away. After a polish job, I decided that I want to stick with black wheels. So here she is, with JDM fender rust! 230k miles and still going strong! Next step is to remove and paint all the moldings, side skirts and mud flaps! I think I'm gonna need to trim them, becuase they drag in hard corners!

What are you running for fluid?
That is awesome that we know you can screw that up!

Nice research Liter!

Last question - did you replace the synchros while you were in the tranny?

I did not. The car shifted with no issue, and the synchros looked okay for the mileage.

Funny this thread popped back up... I just FB stalked the dude that bought the car. He still has it and is apparently in love with it. I'm just surprised he hasn't wrecked it, blown it up or swapped it yet! She will be missed!

Reverse is basically impossible to "test drive"; Gotta have that leverage from the shifter linkage. Check out this picture and tell me what you see....
This is from the first time I tore it apart. Dirty, but everything is correct...

Now look at this one. Does that reverse idler gear look weird to you?

If your answer was, " The reverse idler gear was installed upside down, dumbass!", then you're correct! I even googled images of the trans just to be sure. I guess she'll be going back together tomorrow! The fluid was kinda dirty and the magnet had already picked up some shavings; I assume that's from the few times I tried to force reverse. Whoops!

This time her *** is in the garage and the Corvette is out in the cold.
Dayum...
