94 Del Sol transmission in a 96 cx?
I bought a transmission from a d series 94 Del Sol for my 96 civic cx. I was told any d series tranny will bolt up to any d series motor. Is that true? And does the 94 del sol have a better gearing than a 96 cx tranny like the ex vtec sohcs trannies do?

Im not sure what model its from. The reason im buying it is because there is a shitty rattling that goes away when the clutch is pressed. I was told it was either the throwout bearing or the input shaft bearing. SHould i put a new clutch in to cover the throwout bearing or is it not too hard to do it later if its the bearing? Also is it easier to pull the motor or take the suspension off and lower it some and frop it out?

Heh...I probably told you it is the input shaft bearing. And yes...if your tranny rattles/buzzes and it goes away when the clutch is depressed, it IS the input shaft bearing. Just check the throwout bearing when you put the new tranny on, as long as it looks and sounds fine then its okay.
ANY del sol transmission will be better than the CX transmission, even the del sol S transmission. The CX has a 3.2 final drive...the Del sol S has a 4.0, and Si has a 4.1. Check out Mista Bone's tranny page for more details... (civic DX is Del sol S, Civic EX is Del Sol Si) http://home.cinci.rr.com/mistab0ne/tranny.html
Here is my writeup on how to take off a transmission...you have to remove the forks in the front suspension and then drop the motor...you have to, because the right side engine mount is on the tranny...'

Unfortunately I can't answer that question. All I can tell you about the tranny is if its from the Si you will enjoy it more than your current tranny, the stock tranny for the S model though, is not that great. Good luck, hope everthing works out
EDIT: good info above, srry i'm a slow typer
