94 del sol need need hp help
ok i just bought a 94 del sol for a project on copart its got a d16 in it dont know which tho i think its a z6. it looks like there was some mods done to it i didnt get the car yet its getting here on monday. Im new to this forum and i just need some help i want some more hp without wasting a whole bunch of money. Should i swap the engine into b series or get a turbo. I heard i can get about 30hp buy running a small turbo setup with 8psi and it cost about $600. the car looks like it goot some kind of aftermarket intake and an exhaust i will post pics. its got some body damage but i fixed cars much worse haha. So throw ur ideas at me nothing to pricey tho im still in college.

depends on what kind of power you want to make, if you can find a cheap b series to throw in with either a gsr trans or a SI trans then t will become a lot more peppy.

Your Sol has a lot of potential. If it is a Z6 and you don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of money on it, then keep it stock motor. D16 parts are always cheaper and if you do decide to boost it then from what I understand, a D-series can actually push out good horsepower numbers if built right.

it depends. if your looking for just 200 to the wheels thats very doable. the problem comes in when/if it has high miles. don't get me wrong a d-series is a insanely reliable motor but like anything else it has it's limits. how many miles are on it?

i know that if you're just wanting to do a complete kit then Rev Hard makes a complete kit, but outside of that one I'm not sure if there are very many other companies that make a complete kit.

it actually has 46k on it so i think it pretty low miles for it. You know any good combos for the custom setup

just off hand you don't need a very big turbine because of the fact it doesn't really have much displacement and it would take forever for the turbine to spool. so if i were you i would stay with a smaller turbine. for exact trim and size, thats completely up to you.
D-series turbo parts should be pretty easy to find though.

Yea i would keep the z6 and boost it while its stock only run like 8 pounds, stock sohc block can hold alot of boost cuz the cylinder walls are so thick, but in ur case u i would fix the body up good then go boost! check this site out they specialize in sohc trubo kits: go autoworks.com, There all so relatively cheap

thanks guys yeah i think im gonna go with a greddy or garret turbo and then precission intercooler and greddy bov and arp head bolts. i will run 8psi at first than rebuild the engine during winter and probably go to 12-15psi. dont know what ecu to go with i think hondata200. but first thing first the body will take me a week max to make it look brand new!
