94 d16z6 cel 4
Hello fellow H-T members,
I recently bought a 94 civic with a d16z6 running a p28 and it is throwing a code 4. It starts up real easy and idles fine except for the limp mode. Following the helms manual, I check the resistance of crank, tdc, and cyl and i got 393 which is on the low end of the specs. I checked the resistance at the dizzy, sub harness, and ecu plug which yielded the same result 393. Also I did not have continuity to ground at either of the three spots. The dizzy is td42u and looks fairly new. Since everything checked out I continued with the manual and I swapped different ecu's. I did not have another p28 laying around but I did use p06, p72, and p75 and after each ecu change I unpluged the battery but each ecu yielded a code 4. Unfortunately I do not have another vtec dizzy to test with. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

No I do not have any obd1 dizzys. I do have an obd2 non vtec off a y7 and was going to depin it tonight and try to figure out how to rotate the snail or try to just take the cps sensor off it and swap it over.

I went and bought abother dizzy after trying to change the cps sensor with no luck. When I started it I had the same code because I forgot to reset it. I then pulled the battery and fired it up and the code was gone. I went to put the air filter arm back on and in the process I accidentally moved the wiring harness and the car started to idle differently. I then went to check the code and code 4 was on again. I then took all the loom off the wiring harness and found a slight cut on the wiring harness going to the dizzy and it would touch the grounding wire. Which I find weird since when I ohmed it to ground it had no continuity. After repairing the wire with solder and shrink wrap my old dizzy works perfectly and no code 4
