94 cx hatch gauge cluster rpm signal wire

Hey Honda tech! I recently bought a 94 cx hatch with a 2000 euro r swap in it. I swapped the original cluster out with a ex cluster and noticed the rpms dont work. I did some reading and have found that the "blue" wire from the distributor needs to be ran to the back of the cluster. I was looking by the distributor and noticed a blue wire in the 10 pin connector, there is some electrical tape wrapped around the wires so i pulled it back and found this... Is this blue wire that is cut, the mysterious blue wire that runs to the cluster? i have no idea what the blue to blue/green is for? Does anyone know what the blue/green is used for? and do i need to connect the blue to the loose blue wire to get the rpms working? Does that make sense? lol Thanks for any help! First post here, so go easy on me. :)

remove all those electrical tape and fix it correctly by soldering the connections and cover with heatshrink tubing. Match color for color and you will be fine.

In the original OBD1 setup, the distributor has two plugs, and the tach wire is in the 2-pin plug. It appears that you no longer have that plug since this is a swap to a 2000 engine, it is likely that some OBDII parts are involved. In the OBDII system, the dash tach signal comes from the ECU not the distributor.

Buying any previously swapped car the first step is to figure out exactly what you have.

True only for 99-00 Civics, except HX manual and GX.

If the cut blue wire in your second pic has continuity with the proper location on the back of the instrument cluster for the tach signal... join it with the yellow/green ICM wire in that distributor plug and you will be fine. Make sure you safely connect and heat shrink the connections.

Got it wired up and it works! Thanks for the help folks!
