94 civic will not start...... help
This is the same civic that I posted earlier that was running crappy, now it will not start at all.... Today I removed the dist. cap and rotor button, cleaned the contacts in the dist cap with some fine sandpaper put the cap and button back on, the car fired right up and actually souned better. I started out to give it a test run and only got 50' when it shut off and now will not start. I purchased a new dist. cap and rotor button but it still is getting no spark. What could I have screwed up by taking the dist. cap off. That is the only thing I did!! Still no codes, no check engine light. Civic DX d15b with 95k miles. Also a couple weeks ago someone post a link to a past posting that showed a photo of a d15b engine showing the fitv, iacv, etc. If anyone could help me with that link........THANKS

well if your getting fuel, which i assume you are, i would get a new dizzy...
sounds like your ignitor went out, they are $220 from honda, but you can get a brand new dizzy from distributorking.com, or on there store on ebay for $200 shipped overnight.....that is what i did
i would replace the basic essentials first before you drop that kind of cash, replace spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, then if all else fails it is prolly that

I know that it is not getting any spark, as for gas i am not sure, the plugs looked dry when i pulled them out to check for spark, should they be wet if I am getting gas but no spark? Got any ideas as to what could be the problem??? It just seems ironic that this happened within 10 minutes of me removing and replacing the dist. cap and rotor button.

Re: 94 civic will not start...... help (tarheeler)
you must've messed something up inside the distributor...forget getting a whole new one...i don't know why people recommend that?! I did that once and it only ended up being the ignitor and ignition coil...basically threw 300 bucks out the window
Find some used internals (coil and ignitor) around here for like 60 bucks and replace it. You should be fine...from what i understand, all D series distributors are the same...but double check to make sure Good luck

Re: 94 civic will not start...... help (tarheeler)
OK..... The no start problem turned out to be the ignition coil... $72.00 at Advance. Just glad it was not the igniter,... they quoted me a price of $175.00 over the phone... their quote for a completely rebuilt dizzy was only about $170.00 go figure. Thanks for all input. The car is still running crappy....has new plugs, dizzy cap, rotor button, ignition coil????
