'94 Civic - More distributor nightmares
Hi all,
I managed to get the electrical connectors undone on my old distributor and got it out. The screws were completely frozen on the coil so I decided to just replace the whole thing and save the headache.
Now the distributor I just got today I can't get one of the connectors in. It seems like I can't even plug the car connector in fair enough, it won't budge to the point of snapping in place (the other one did fine). Also the new distributor cap I got, which fit the old dist. fine, doesn't seem to fit on the new one, nor does the dust cover behind the rotor.
Please don't tell me I just got screwed out of my trip to the mainland to get this... Is there any hope or am I now toast on these parts and having to start over again?
EDIT: I also checked before leaving the store and it's a TD-41U. Seems Honda doesn't sell these OEM anymore?

The ignition coil was dead on the old dist., but was impossible to remove no matter what I tried. I bought a Cardone reman. distributor and I cannot get the smaller electrical lead to connect.
Also the new cap I bought, which fit on the old dist. assembly does not fit snugly on this one, nor does the leak cover.
Sorry I was unclear this whole job has been one bad luck after the next and I'm about ready to pack in DIYing for good. I've decided to bite the bullet and return these parts and get a complete NEW dist. from Rock Auto, including cap, rotor, everything.

See if there's an extra piece of plastic in one of the plugs, sometimes then insert gets left behind when you unplug the old distributor.

i don't see why a new dist wasn't purchased to begin with, they come with a cap and rotor so all you have to do it bolt it on and plug it up and go....

Uh, you bought an entirely new dizzy because you couldn't get the coil screws out??? Do you realize you probably could have bought a high powered hammer drill and set of phillips bits from harbor freight along with a new coil for what you paid for the entire dizzy?

Trust me, I tried everything to get that coil out. Point is I've been without my car for 2 weeks now and need it back on the road. I appreciate those who helped me out and I've learned my lesson about third-party supplier parts.

Don't forget to do an ignition timing once you install the distributor on the car.
