Question about my b18c rebuild.
So i had my b18c rebuilt cause i was burning alot of oil . I had very low compression on my cylinders . Any way i had a basic rebuilt nothing fancy cause i wasnt planning on boosting or racing it just wanted it to be a normal engine. So i had this tuner shop with alot of experience work on it. Any way my question is i know i have to break in the motor . And i was told not to run synthetic till my first three oil changes so im running 5 w 30 pensoil but i notice when i excelerate I see some smoke in my rear view mirror . Now should i be worried cause im running regular oil and b18's are known to burn some oil ? i also check my dip stick and it shows low oil , and im hoping that i didnt get ripped off

Re: Question about my b18c rebuild.
How many miles have you put on this rebuild? You are engine breaking(downshifting) in all gears I hope(to properly seat rings). Keep your oil topped off for sure. Pull the plugs and have a look at the top of pistons for wetness and do a compression check on their work.
You might try cleaning/replacing the pcv before anything, they can make b series smoke.

Thanks for the response and yes I'm downshifting and I want to say I put around 2100 miles on it I keep topping off my oil cause the money I spent on it

I really hope they didn't just hone out old cylinders and slap the old pistons back in with new rings. To me, a rebuild is when the block is machined, not just honed. There seems to be a mindset that a hone is a rebuild- false. If you ask me a hone is a refurbished(temporary) engine. Even if the cylinders are within spec, put new pistons in(I hope they did). Compress check and see what #'s+ replace pcv if you haven't already.

One thing for sure is that they sent my block to get machined so they put in the oversized piston head and rings so I know that it was machined .
