i bought a 2000 civic ex with blown engine and i'm looking for a used engine to replace it with but it looks like people are charging premium for this engines on ebay and places that sell engines. i mean $1700 for a sohc engine? that's almost same as b16-18 engine price. i was hopping more like $800 for such cheap engine. anyone know a good place to get this engine? i have found F22B Vtec for less than $650 and yet this engine can't be found for less than $1000.

they said it's knocking so i'm thinking it's a rod bearing or something. i have not turned on the car yet. no luck on Craigslist. been looking for one for couple days.

D16's are worth alot more these days. Sometimes you can find them on CL for $400-800, but alot of the time you cant even find them. its because with the economy the way it is, not many people are doing swaps these days. And with the potential of SOHC's (and the way money is) more people would rather build/boost what they have. Thus pushing up the price. Then there are SOHC people like me who look for/need Single cam parts and are just waiting for something to pop up so we can grab it. Its all about the laws of supply and demand. Also how did you blow the engine/how badly blown is it? Because I need some parts :D

You can get one from HMotors Online for cheaper than what you're finding ($1,700???!!!). Straight from Japan with low miles.

yeah the cheapest i found is $1000 but who know's how's the condition. don't CL have dohc engine?

if you are really interested, we do have 3 sitting. an ls swap for 1100. b16 for 1700. number is in the sig.

D16's can be found beside mustang 5.0's and camaro 305's in the junk yard. i think as long as you bring a case of beer you can pick one up for free.

i don't plan to keep the car. i bough it to fix it and sell it. i'm thinking i might put d15 vtec in it if i can't find one. i wonder if it works on 00 EX lol.
