Car and set up. Please read the forum rules.
Then check whether one of the axles is not fully inserted into the differential.

how old is the clutch? dd it just start randomly, or has it been doing it on and off for a while?

Considering that his speedo is registering but the car isn't moving at all, I doubt it's a clutch issue. It's probably something simple like a slipped axle, but hey, maybe the OP will get to learn how to overhaul a transmission.
OP, some kind of detail about the "noise" it makes would be nice. My perfectly healthy EJ6 makes "noises" too, but they're all normal. Grinding? Slapping? Gnashing?

yea what car and setup? and does it feel like its going into gear? it could be a popped out axle or a diff problem.

You can easily check to see if an axle is popped out, or if it's broken. It would require two people, and some common sense. I stress the common sense part.
Yank the e-brake fully as to not allow the car to roll/move even if for some reason it catches and tries to go.
Chock the rear wheels as to not allow the vehicle to lurch/surge forward in the event that it actually tries to move.
Having done those two important steps, now you can have someone lie on the floor and watch the axles while another person starts the car, put the car in gear, and releases the clutch.
If either axle has a portion of it spinning, then you broke an axle.
also check to see if either axle came unseated/popped out of transmission. You would hopefully see transmission fluid leaking out at inner joint/axle/diff seal area, unless trans was already low on fluid.

I say this because I have personally destroyed axles, final drive sets (ring and pinion) when I use to run a nasty sprung hub 6 puck clutch, and Black R knows about this sort of thing.

if the axle had popped out it would register the speed higher than just 5 mph say in 2nd gear like 20 or so and 3rd would be 30-40 since the final drive is still moving. its more serious. possible to be a clutch/pressure plate problem or something broke in trans

Pressure plate... It sounds like your clutch is slipping... Check for oil on flywheel, sometimes when oil leaks into the transmission, it causes premature failure of clutch & pressure plate

I suggest you do what B18C5-EH2 said I had a friends car do the same thing and I had to replace the driver side axle. After that the car drive fine again! Some insight!

I believe Ken/Black R was asking about the clutch to see if the clutch could have caused a broken axle, ring and pinion gear and/or diff due to extremely harsh engagement.

i agree there is definitely some clutch slipping there might wanna check the wear and or since the year of you car it would be running a hydrulic clutch you might need to bleed it but that would only be if you have opened the hydrulic system. just a possibility easier to try bleeding it first.

So the speedo is registering, but the car isn't moving. Stop fiddling around and do what RonJ said. Make sure the axles are seated correctly.

the mph registered with gear gears correctly either the axle poped out or i have seen 1 time that the joint broke internaly and is just spinning inside of itself
