'94 civic ej1 brake problems
the brakes feel very soft and they sink in (like a spongy feel)... i put in the new cylinder, bled the brakes, bench bled the cylinder) but the bleeder valve on the passenger side was beginning to strip, so i removed it and put a new one on, and continued bleeding the brakes, well when i had finished (no air bubbles), i pressed the brakes and they sunk in still... they felt mushy, i tried to keep bleeding them for a while longer and it felt like it barely even got harder..... what do you think the problem is? would it be because i removed the bleeder screw and put a new one? or what else could be wrong?
*also when the car is off, and you press on the brake pedal, it's supposed to get hard, right? but with mine it doesn't
*the brakes have been such a pain, please help if you can, thanks

quick question, your not pressing the brake pedel to the ground to bleed are you? ive done that and it wont get the air out, put a peice of 2x4 behind the brake pedel so it limits the distance you can press the pedel.

Re: '94 civic ej1 brake problems
wait, i think i may be doing this wrong... i pumped the brakes 6 times and on the 6th pump, i held the pedal all the way down and then loosened the bleeder valve, is that correct? and yea i start with the rear passenger, then the rear driver, then the front passenger, finally the front driver... is that correct? ill bleed it all over again, but is there any chance that it may be the brake booster? because when pump the brakes while it's off, it doesn't get hard at all.....
*i apprecite any help, thanks, i need my car ready by monday

Re: '94 civic ej1 brake problems
RR = passenger rear
Does your pedal slowly sink, or is it just mushy?
Are you doing this by yourself or with a helper?

Re: '94 civic ej1 brake problems
they just feel mushy, and its rear drum, and they are seated properly.
i am doing it with a helper, so when they hold the brake pedal down... does it need a piece of wood or something behind it, to prevent it from going all the way down? i am very confused about that, because my helper has been holding the pedal all the way in, without a piece of wood behind, and then i loosen the bleeder
