94 Civic DX and Compatibility
OK guys here's the story. I have a 94 DX that I will be restoring and sending to a friend in Missouri.
So #1 it has to pass state emissions.
#2 It will remain OBD I. (if possible, tell me if it will not be)
I am in the process of obtaining engine parts to build a D16Y8. My friend is just interested in a reliable car. And she doesn't even know about the new motor. But the 192,000 miles on the DX motor are just too many for her too feel confident with the car. Plus if she decides a little ways dwon the road that she doesn't want it, I will have first dibs on it, and I want it in this configuration.
Right now a 2000 Civic EX head (minus dizzy) is pending sale.
Will this year head force me to use OBD II??
Will the sensors from the DX work??
What about the distributor, will any from a 92-98 work??
What about the block, any EX or Si D series block from 92-00 should work right??
Are all the D16Y8's the same (other than OBD I or II from 92-present?? And thus making parts all interchangeable??
Any other vital info is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: 94 Civic DX and Compatibility (NXSpoon)
I don't feel comfortable answer the other questions, but it was either '98 or '99 they added an extra sensor to the Y8 intake manifold. I forget what it does, though.

Re: 94 Civic DX and Compatibility (clm)
Thanks. I am looking to buy the head and manifold from methred_92, and he says that the manifold includes everything; all sensors, etc. It's just the head that will need the sensors.
