Default 94 civic cx proportioning valve

I changed the brakes in my civic and now the pedal goes to the floor. I pump 1 time and it comes up half way and stays there till released. all I did was compress the cylenders and calipers to put the new pads in. someone said i had to reset the proportioning valve.... how do i do that???? thanks for any help

Never heard of resetting it. Never had to do it in all the years I've owned a Honda and changed my own brakes.

X2 on bleeding the brakes....... Never heard of having to reset the valve.........I can't see how the valve would affect the pedal though. It just transfers pressure accordingly.... Sounds to me like air in the line.

the button is on the proportioning valve lower left side as you look at it from ftont of vehicle

Okay. I'll bite. What happens if you press it?

the only thing i can think the button does is reset the Pressure differential valve in the prop valve

i'm only guessing but in most cars. a pressure diff valve is found in combination valves to measure a difference in pressure between the two halves of a braking system (the LF,RR/RF,LR)

if you dont bleed them in the correct sequence, that valve will be off center

but

it would cause the brake warning lamp to illuminate
wouldnt cause a weak pedal

try re-bleeding the system

when you compressed the calipers, did you let fluid enter back up the reservoir? or did you break the bleeder screw and let it exit the system (btw, this is the new standard now)

how many times did you depress the pedal? you might have compressed the pistons so far back, they have to travel quite a bit to touch the pads
