I have a 94 civic coupe with a jdm b16a swap, at high rpms it smokes black like crazy after hitting vtec and when idling down the motor trys to stall, can anyone give me info on what this may be, ive heard the rings could do it and also a few other things, any ideas would help, thanks!

blue smoke is oil consumption which would be rings or valve seals or any other way you could burn oil
black smoke mean you are running rich
what ecu are you currently using? what is your fuel pressure like? are you using an after market fpr? do you have starting issues when the car is warm?
anymore info will help out a lot

A bad head gasket generally would not cause the engine to run too rich. Any CEL codes? Have you inspected the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor? Is the ignition timing set to spec?

Yup, steam in the exhaust from head gasket failure will contaminate your o2 sensor(s) too and will have to R&R them. Water in the engine oil will leave you with atleast two oil changes also to get it clean.

i have checked all me cel codes before this happend and it pulled an o2 scensor so i replaced that along with the tps because it surges could the head gasket make it surge also...
