is it blue or black? black smoke indicates to much fuel which would cause your rough idle.

exactly

blue smoke is oil consumption which would be rings or valve seals or any other way you could burn oil

black smoke mean you are running rich
what ecu are you currently using? what is your fuel pressure like? are you using an after market fpr? do you have starting issues when the car is warm?

anymore info will help out a lot

A bad head gasket generally would not cause the engine to run too rich. Any CEL codes? Have you inspected the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor? Is the ignition timing set to spec?

Head gasket would give you the pretty white smoke... and lots and LOTS of sadness.

Yup, steam in the exhaust from head gasket failure will contaminate your o2 sensor(s) too and will have to R&R them. Water in the engine oil will leave you with atleast two oil changes also to get it clean.

Are all CEL codes now gone?

Plugs, wires, cap, and rotor?
