Depends on whether or not you want to go All motor or Forced induction:
1) All Motor possibilities:
-First off is the basics; intake, header, and exhaust
-Then you could either build the head and throw some cams in it
-Or you can throw a Vtec head on it and then follow the previous step
-There are also various intake manifolds or even Individual Throttle bodies...
-Then there's the bottom end which you could throw in some pistons to boost
up the compression
2)Forced Induction possibilities:
a-Turbo-
-Slap some pistons in it and throw some injectors in and buy the biggest turbo
you want
b-Supercharger-
-one of the advantages of the supercharger is that you can add one to your
setup without having to replace your I/H/E for those that are on a budget
-Supercharger is gonna give you that instant power feeling while the turbo
works off the exhaust gases(turbo lag) which is why it feels like it takes
longer to build boost
c-Nitrous-
-I consider this one of the easiest things to do your motor but also want of the
worst in my opinion but ill leave that decision to whoever is footing the bill
These are just a few ideas for you

Brakes and suspension first.
Go as fast as you want, but if can't stop in time or handle the next turn, your expensive project is worthless.

ok i was kicking around the idea of LS/Vtech but last night i raced a 92-95 4 door civic with the ls/vtech and i walked him by 5 cars. now i already got the suspension and all 3 sway bars in the rear. i got one for the strut tower up front just haven't added it yet. I'm debating on the supercharger and i'm wondering don't you need power to make power with the supercharger?? i'm def doing cams next but what size you guys think??

Which B18 do you have?...assuming B18A/B if you wanted to go LS/V-TEC.
The sedan (4dr) is a lot heavier than your hatch.
I don't really see a LS/V-TEC loosing to a LS, even with the difference in weight. Driver skill had to have been a huge factor. Or the LS/V-TEC needed a lot of final tuning.
You mentioned supercharging. What are you looking to get for power in the end?

I built a turbo kit for my DA integra. But, decided to sell it. Now, Im buying a EG hatch shell on Monday. And picking up a ls motor and tranny for $400 and throwing my turbokit on the ls in my eg hatch.
So, my vote is for turbo ls FTMFW

^^ you're totally jacking someone else's thread, it's against the rules and rude non-the-less.
It's irrelevant and isn't even similar except in the part that you're using a b18b.
You already have a "b18b auto" thread. Wait there.

i found a guy sellin a new skunk 2 if your lookin, he was askin 140 shipped about a week ago. he prob still has it tho.
if i was you id just rebuild the ls head and get a big turbo and maybe rebuild the block if your lookin to get more boost. i was thinkin about putting a turbo on my 94 hatch w/ 98 b18b1 but it needs a lil work before that. good luck w/ that
