a VX uses a wideband O2. search for a NGK L1H1 five wire O2. Unfortunly they are not cheap.

Seafoam works great. Fix the O2 and the car will run better and get amazing fuel mileage. I used to pull an average of ~40mpg if I kept my foot out of it.

as far as boosting the VX, you're better off swapping the engine.
all though a different slightly milled head would result in an engine that's prime for boost (low compression due to the VX's deep dish pistons) But it will result in an engine that produces as much power as a swap for about the same money. Plus no more room to grow with out serious money invested.

Basically what he said. as for the vtec working, you cnt really feel or hear it kick in, i dont know engagement points but if it wasnt working it would feel hesitant when it engaged nd be slower. Also, i destroy my D15Z dily nd its still running like a champ, so feel free to give all that 92 horse and 96 torque hell. Its slow. Post pics for fun =D

VX VTEC is ~3k, slightly lower when at WOT, slightly higher when easy on the throttle.

i had a z1, i swapped it for a d16z6 and kept the p07 vx ecu ,and stock exhaust = no cat, no test pipe (just straight from the header to stock b-pipe). it cracks VTEC at 3k lol it gets really loud when im just driving in town.

and based on your sig, it gets poor mpg. I'm actually shocked that it hasn't died yet.
the P07 uses a very lean mixture while cruising (close to 20:1) which will damage any engine not designed for it.
Unless you have a CEL for th O2 then it will run rich and you'll never get into the lean burn mode.

Yes a bad o2 sensor will make your car slow, and it will get bad gas milage. You can get a new o2 sensor off Ebay for around $175 if you look hard enough.
Your motor is broken in, unless you just rebuilt it.
I have a vx motor and its worthless to upgrade due to the 1.5 connecting rods being so small. If you do anything to that motor your throwing your money away. Your best bet is an ex/si tranny it will drop right in no complications what so ever.
Ever considered a b18b swap?
Your v-tec is working, or you wouldn't be able to wrap up past 3.5k with any significant power.
For your own good swap that motor out before your do somthing stupid like upgrade it.

Driving the car differently has no effect on how it performs "loose" or whatever you're trying to say. That was all in your head.

You might be happy with low psi boost. Depends on what your goal/application is.
