Default 93 Si Help....

I bought a 93 civic si from an older lady with only 22k miles on it. I checked it out at carfax and it was legit. My question is, is an engine swap a must or can I build a good street car using that engine? So far I put the AEM CAI, and exhaust..waiting on everything else to see if I need a swap first.. shooting for 13's in that area in quarter mile, thanks.

Nice, very nice pick up. Man how much did you pay for it? What color, you got a pic of it? I would say built the stock motor if you got money to spend. if not just save up for a dohc swap. You can built the sohc vtec's pretty well if you do all the right stuff.

the only way you're gonna get 13's out of the SOHC engine is if you use forced induction (turbo, etc)

you should be able to get good money for your swap, since it has such low milage...someone who blew their sohc and is just looking for a replacement

Nice score. How much did you pay btw?

I would still swap. I contemplated the same thing with my 1992 Si and chose a B18C1 swap. I beat every JRSC and Greddy-Turbo'd D16Z6 Civic I ever raced, and I had a STOCK motor with only bolt-ons.

Sure you can run 13's daily driven, but you might want to head over to the boost forum. I'm sure it's possible all-motor, but with full interior and daily-driven needs I doubt it can be done cheaply or easily.

Sell tha SOHC as a full swap and get a DOHC swap - you'll never regret it.

I paid 5000 for it, the lady could not shift anymore and she used it to run to the store, and to the emisions place about 2000 miles a year, i could not pass it up, i will be getting pics scanned and posted this week.

you know what, its an si. if you want to swap out the motor you might as well buy a vx or something. costs less money and weighs less. personally i'd keep the motor and the car. its fun to drive and with this motor i've been able to hang with b16a coupes. they barely pull from me going all the way up to 115mph.

Well hell, my old D16Z6 STOCK with only an intake ran 15.6 in my old 1992 Si. Only thing I did was take out the spare.

That's good enough to beat most 99-00 Civic Si coupes, but who cares?

Swap, and never look back

I don't know about 13's but you should be in the mid to low 14's. Easilyyou got a good deal even if it is a shitty color.
