93 JDM Del Sol trunk stuck open
I am a military member in japan so solving my problem is a bit difficult b/c no one to help. My car has the roof button on the dash and well the corkscrews that raise the roof one of them is stripped and the manual roof crank is broken. The trunk is open and it will not close again until the roof is opened and put back into it. I cannot roll up my windows (electric) and the car will not go anywhere b/c the trunk is open. The trunk open light is on. The car will idle fine and it stalls when you try to take off in any gear but it will go in 4th but sluggish as you can imagine. The car is at a friends house i need to get it home. If i unplug the trunk solenoid will that override what ever it is thats making my car stall out so that i can get it home and try to fix the top? Any help will be usefull in getting this baby back to my home to fix b/c my friends not to mechanically inclined and we need to move it b/c he's in an apartment complex and i dont have a parking space. Any help would be great thanks.

what i would do is find the motor that controls the worm screws, and manually power it. however, this may not be easy if it doesn't have a simple two wire connector. but it's probably a normal dc motor, so give it power, it'll either go up or down, reverse the wires and it should do the opposite.
***this is only for a 2 wire motor tho

You must be here at either Yokota or Kadena, maybe Misawa. Either way, if you can just take it to the Hobby Shop. Those guys (at least in Yokota) can fix anything. Good luck.. Most folks on Ht arent familiar with your trunk. The US models of del sol dont have the electonic setup like you do. Its a Japanese option only..

There should be some sort of safety switch that tells the car the roof is open. Disable that so the car thinks the trunk is closed. That should allow you to drive it again. As for the corkscrew goto the dealer and get a new one, replace it and you should be able to close the trunk again. Im not at all familier with the jdm trunk style so I cant help you to much more without seeing it myself So feel free to send me the whole car if you like id be more then happy to acept it in its present condition.
Ill look up the switch in a few when i get some time. Otherwise pm if I forget.

please dont be a post *****. If you dont have anything relevant to say dont say anything at all. Were alll getting sick of old threads being bumped back up because you want to post useless comments, if you want to do that go over to the general discusion forum.
back to the original poster. Thats good to hear that you got it closed at least, keep us posted with those pics and let us know. I for one want to hear.
