Default 93 EX Coupe - Cruise control troubleshooting, RE speed sensor

I was working on troubleshooting my cruise control issue this morning and I think I tracked it down to the control unit. All the input tests for the control unit passed, except for one and I am unsure if I was performing it correctly. I had an issue with step 7 below. I had one lead of my meter connected to the yel/blu terminal, and the other to blk. The meter was set on DC voltage in the 20V range. I tried turning both front wheels both directions, in neutral and in gear. The meter never said anything other than 0.

I'm assuming this is referring to the speed sensor on top of the trans? Is there another way to test the speed sensor? Does this sensor also send signal to the speedometer? The speedometer is working fine.

BTW, the car is a 1993 EX Coupe with a manual trans.

No codes. Also, the control unit had evidence of water inside it. The case was badly corroded, and there were multiple diodes inside that had failed. Looked like corrosion similar to battery acid terminal corrosion.

Check continuity between pin 7 of the cruise control unit connector and the VSS connector.

I did check that and did not get continuity between the two wires. I see where it's the same signal/wire that goes directly to the gauges to control the speedometer. Does the fact that the speedometer works fine indicate the sensor is fine, and that there is a break/short in the wire between the junction point and the cruise control unit?

The VSS is fine if the speedometer works.

There is a wire break somewhere between the CC unit connector and the node (not shown) where the Yel/Blu wire branches to the ECU versus VSS/gauge assembly.

Run a new Yel/Blu wire for that segment or track down the break and fix it.
