93 EG Hatch won't start and I'm running out of straws to draw.
I have searched but have not found some one with this exact issue. So my D15 cranks over won't start. I checked for spark and fuel. The car had sat for a few years so the tank was caked in crud. So I put in a tank out of a working car. Installed a new fuel pump and swapped in an engine. I ahve been driving the car for about a year and soem times it wouldn't start. I would change the fuel filter and it would run. I just changed the fuel filter 2 days ago and now it won't start again. I figured the line was clogged so I took the line off the fuel rail and ran it into a Gatorade bottle. The line sprayed like a fire hose and the fuel looks fine. I'm getting spark because used a spark tester and it lit up. Here is a list of all the parts I have swapped out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciatted. I plan swapping out the fuel tank diaphram next.
Fuel tank
Fuel pump
Motor and fuel lines attached to motor
injectors
Dizzy
spark plugs
plug wires
What is left to try changing?

U didn't say i u had spark or not. Do u? If u do, check the timing belt. You may have slipped a tooth. That happened to me, and i racked my brain for a couple days before that occurred to me. Line up the tdc mark on the crank and make sure the cam gear lines up.

That's a good suggestion. That happened 2 buddys of mine. I just didn't think about it cause I drive my car like an old lady. I'm getting spark. I hooked the spark plug tester and the bulb was lighting up.

But just because your getting spark, doesn't mean its a strong enough spark to ignite fuel in cylinder.
Have you checked dizzy/igniter with voltmeter?
Firing order?
Is dizzy 180* off?(it can be done)
FPR?
checked spray pattern and volume from injectors?

I did swap out another dizzy I had laying around. They could both be bad. How do you check the spray pattern? I did pull the fuel rail off and had some crank the engine over to see that the injectors where spraying. Thanks for the ideas.

As mentioned, make sure:
-spark is bright white rather than orange or deep blue at the plugs
-the plugs are installed in the correct firing order on the distributor cap
-the mechanical timing is dead on
-cylinder compressions are similar and good

I changed my spark plugs and it fired right up. I have never had that work for me in the 100s of cars I have trouble shot. There is always a first time for every thing.
