93 Dx loosing coolant
So I have a 93 Dx with a b7 that has over 220k miles and ever since a couple of months ago it has been loosing a good amount of coolant when driving.
First 5-10 mins of driving it's good, but then it starts smoking. The leak is coming from behind the motor it seems like? But when I open the hood it's like coolant is everywhere on the transmission side. The car does not overheat.
Would this be a faulty thermostat, leaking coolant sensor, or heater core? The heater does not work.
I replaced the lower radiator hose, no coolant in oil or vice versa.... Kind of stumped. Can't find the leak because when I clean it off and wait for it to happen again it leaks so much you can't tell from where.

Re: 93 Dx loosing coolant
Is the heater supposed to work? Heater not working is one of the first signs of low coolant. If coolant is leaking it will eventually overheat. Use a pressure tester to put the system under pressure while cold so you can try to spot the leak.
Behind the engine, as well as the heater hoses there is a U-shaped bypass hose, several small hoses around the intake, and the metal pipe that goes from the thermostat to the water pump. As previously noted, all are best seen from underneath the car.

Well it should work, it has all the LX options. I tried to bleed the coolant when I did the lower rad hose, but it took a abnormal amount of coolant I got thru a whole gallon and it wouldn't even reach the rad neck then I got a hunting idle which I think was due to the coolant not being bleed right.

I meant, the heater hasn't been removed or bypassed etc.
It's pointless to try to bleed a leaky system. It's just going to leak out.
Drive the car up on ramps and turn engine off.
Connect a pressure tester and put the cooling system under pressure. Find the leak. Look from under the car if necessary.
Fix the leak.
Fill and bleed the system.
