93 del sol si - NEW brake switch question
Hi all,
Searched and found a LOT of how to fix problem with lights staying on.... But not if there is a different switch.
I have a 93 del sol si with cruise control and my local stores have a switch for the Del Sol WITHOUT cruise control but not with CC.
Is there another honda I can cannibalize from or buy local? Basically I just need the new switch and want to make sure I get/order the right one.
Thanks for all your help. This is the last step before I start the dreaded RAD support replacement!

But what model civic, integra etc or are they all interchangeable? Any 90's civic with cruise will work etc?
Not trying to be difficult, the nearest pick and pull is an hour away so just trying to be sure they have what I need before I go, and I already know they dont have any del sols

Why do you think you need a new switch?
93 Del Sol switch:
92-95 Civic switch:
Does your connector look the same?

Thanks. Looks like civic will work. I'll double check in a.m.
Even with the plunger fully depressed or not touching at all....lights stay on. The stopper was already gone and a bolt had been put in place.... But the only difference is in brightness of lights.....parking and actual brake I'm assuming. When the pedal is pushed they get brighter but stay on at all times.
If I'm on the wrong track...please tell me so...I value ALL OPINIONS😀

For the rear brake lights, try adjusting the position of the pedal switch:

OP is the 3rd brake light on the back of the car also on? when the petal is depresed, does it come on and stay off otherwise?
if your talking about brightness that could be the running lights are on not the brake lights on dim.

Diemaster,
The lights are on dim all the time.....get much brighter when brake pedal is depressed. So does this mean the problem is in my parking light system and I'm looking in the completely wrong area? BTW, 1993 has no third brake light.
RonJ: Sorry, yes talking about rear brakes not dash light.

Re: 93 del sol si - NEW brake switch question
Both filaments come on when brake is depressed. So brake switch is def good. Thanks Ron J for backing me off the ledge to take another look!
variation on original question. What COULD cause this? I havent been able to get out there with a meter yet but will. Cant understand how a fuse could do this but Ill check.
Thanks for your help guys. I WILL get this figured out.

No, its a parking light issue. The brake lights were because of the stupid rubber stopper. Its actually the parking lights that are staying on.

Not trying to be a butt...I truly appreciate your taking the time to help a noob out. Should I have started a new thread when the diagnosis changed?

Re: 93 del sol si - NEW brake switch question
Thanks. Checked the headlight switch all good. Decided to put on the new brake pedal switch too since I had it...and voila....problem went away. Still not sure which switch was the culprit but problem went away!
