93 Del Sol SI D16Z6 - 2nd Cylinder Low Compression - What Next?
Hi All,
I have done a compression test and found that my cylinder number 2 is about 50-60% less compression than all the rest, dry and wet.
Just wanted to get some advice as to what I should do next to see if this thing is worth fixing, or to just dump it and get a replacement motor, seeing as they are only around $900-1000, I don't think it makes sense to spend a lot trying to fix this one.
2nd, if I continue to drive this one with low compression, whats the worse that could happen? It runs pretty good considering, a little rough idle, but still has power.

That's a fare jump from dry to wet. i'd say rings starting to go mine only jumps 3-4psi max when i do a wet test. but that's not to say a leakdown test isn't a good idea.

So, sounds like leakdown test is the way to go. that will at least point me in the right direction.

So, took it to my local shop and for $25 they ran a leak down test.
Came back with 80% Leakage through the exhaust valve. Guy there said car shows signs of possibly having a turbo install previously and too be careful that fixing the exhaust valve might not solve all the issues, wouldn't know until its all opened up.
