Hello all,

I am new to the forum and was brought here while working on a project for my university class. I am analyzing the ignition system of my '93 Honda Del Sol and got to the distributor. It is the same distributor used on most of the 90's Civics.

I understand the majority of it, but I just wanted to see if anyone knows what drives the distributor rotor for this distributor? I looked up the image of the actual distributor and I did not see (or did not not recognize) the gear at the end of the distributor assembly, which is typically driven by the camshaft in most distributor ignition systems.

Can someone please tell me if the distributor rotor is actually driven by the camshaft? If not, what drives the rotor? Thank you.

The camshaft turns the distributor rotor.

Yep, theres no gear at the end because the distributor isn't a right angle to the camshaft, its more of an extension of it. Theres a notch in the end of the cam and the piece on the end of the distributor corresponds to it.
