Default 93 Del Sol/d15b7 block/d15z1 head -- bogging out at 4k

i have a 93 del sol that i just got
when i was testing it i didnt wanna hot rod it so i didnt know of this problem tell later -_-
but when im driving idle is a little high (1200rpm) and when i do hot rod it and once i hit 4k rpm it bogs out and just wont go (not rpm bounce just dies)
i found out that its a d15b7 block with a d15z1 head
i thinking the problem is ether the timing or the distributor not really sure and don't wanna mess with them if not the problem

im sure its something simple

any advice would help thanks

Well, that leaves a lot to figure out.

Since you just bought it, and you are having drivability issues, I recommend doing a full tune up: Spark Plugs, Wires, Dist. Cap and Rotor, PCV Valve, Oil Change, Fuel Filter, Air Filter. Even Timing belt change with new water pump, seals, and thermostat with fresh coolant.

Now see where you are at.

Next check you ignition timing.

Is it dying when you get to 4KRPM? Or is it dying when the engine heats up. What I am mean is: Can you drive the car around endlessly below 4 kRPM without it dying or no? It dies due to heat, then it may be a ignition issue with the coil or ICM.

i checked the plugs and all that already and changed oil
but yeah i can drive fine as long as im under 4k and it doesnt die completly it just goes up and once i hit 4k its almost like a sputter and wont accept gas tell i go back to 3.5k ... was looking around and thought the compresson for the 2 heads could be off and that could cause this? sound right?
