Default 93 del sol 94 ls swap, passenger axle too short?

***UPDATE*** ok, well heres what i did to fix it, i took everything apart and reinstalled it and bashed it with a big ole hammer untill it would go anymore. and it stayed in. so all is good for now.

the axle seems to be too short or something on the passenger side. when i tightened the axle nut, it pulled it from tranny. i found out by putting it in 1st and then grabbing the axle and trying to put it in and i can hear it start to rub/gring the splines. so its not in. why is it too short? its brand new 94 ls axles?

hi, ok, so i swapped a 94 ls 5 speed into my 93 del sol. swap went fine except little problem getting the shift linkage pin out. anyways, i just bought new 94ls axles and installed them today, i started it up and put it in gear, and she doesnt move at all, doesnt move in reverse either, she feels like she shifts fine, i blead the clutch, shifter feels fine, when axles were out, you could see the end pieces spinning. but i put axles in and go to move it around in the driveway, and nothing.

history: i bought as a shell, had a b20 in it before. was told nothing was wrong, but you know how shady people can be. so can anyone look at the big picture and possible tell me what to check out?????

IMO its probaly something really stupid. Can you feel the clutch grab at all? Any grinding sounds. More than likely the linkage isnt right.

are the axles spinning. Ive heard of having the wrong spindles or not having the axles in all the way or the axles arent the right ones all together

yeah make sure your axles are in all the way into the tranny, sometimes you feel like they go in but theyre a hair out and it wont work... check your half-shaft also...

no i dont feel it grab or the car move at all, and i do think its probly something stupid too because it was a complete running and moveing teg before i swapped.

i checked to see i the axles were spinning before, and they werent, and i got 94 teg axles, so the fit in the tranny fine, and the splines were perfect for the sol. anyone think its the clutch? also, idk if its just the VSS but the speedo kinda goes up with the rpms, especially if i womp it.

what could be wrong with the half shaft? and shouldnt at least the pass side spin even if there was suttin not right with the half shaft? i know that i didnt have the C clip around the male end of the half shaft when i installed my axles, but i figured the rotors and stuff would hold it in enough, its not like its gonna pop out.

Are you sure the axles are the right ones for your transmission? The clutch must be engaging if the speedo is registering mph.

i thought that 94 integra axles were the ones for this swap, but ive now just come to relize that when i tightened the axle nut, it pulled the axle out of the passenger side, seems too short? what axles are supposed to go in?????

I had accidentally gotten a D series axle like this before and all it done was the tranny would spin around the spline. It wouldn't go anywhere or nothing, you need to make sure your axle is the right one.

these are 100% 94 integra axles. even the part number is the same when i look it up online. i cant figure why its too short though? are SI axles longer?

I would imagine they are. seeing as how those are the only axles i ever bought. go buy one and compare to the ls. Think about it. Axle for a civic (99si ) or axle for integra, I would go with the one for the civic

nope, i jjust ran to the store and picked up a pass axle for 99 civic si like you suggested, compared, looked the same, i went and found the old box and compared part numbers. theyre exactly the same, so why is it that when i tighten the cv nut, the axle pops out of the tranny???

Aren't you missing the set ring at the end of the axle. This locks the axle into the differential.

nope, brand new axel, so new ring. i took out the axle and then reinstalled it and pressed it in as hard as i could then i rotated it and put everthing back together, then i lowered the car and started it again and the same thing happened. it popped out again. ANY SUGGESTIONS?!?!??!?!

since you have a del sol. Did you think about axles from a del sol vtec? Try those. The del sol vtec has a b16a3. I would try those axles and the last thing on the list would be a broken differential.

yeah, i thought of it, but it got late and started to rain so i called it a day. i just checked the part numbers on it, and its the same. it could just be that i didnt hit it in hard enough and get it too click in.

Get some from a vtec sol and that should fix it, I have talked to people with a similar situation, because I guess the del sol is a little wider.

their are no difference in the axles in a del sol VTEC, SI, and Integra. I've got a Del Sol with a b16 in it. Was your sol a completely stock car before you started this or did someone ever wreck it or anything?
