Default 93 Civic Service question

I have a 93 Civic dx as a daily beater that just stopped. Being unfamiliar with the Honda I took it to a dealer as I thouhgt the timing belt had done bad. It turns out that the ignition modual (ignitor) was bad. My question is how hard is this part to change? I have a lifetime of experience of working on Fords and none on Honda's. Is this item hard to swap (being an ignition control box I suspect not) I would rather do it myself and save the $330.

Any thoughts, advice or commentary would be very much appreciated.

ignitor swaps are extremely easy. the ignitor is located in the ditributor, under the cap-->rotor-->distrib splash cover. it is very simple, only requiring a phillips screwdriver. if you have the ignitor in your hand you will see that you have to remove the aforementioned parts, and a few wires (don't mix up the wires) on the ignitor and swap it out. good luck.

Perfect, that is exactly what I was looking for. My Black Civic of doom will live again!! It's a great beater 216K miles and still doing okay. 70miles a day commute and it gets better milage than my 03 focus.....

Thanks again.

yep rodney got it in one, really easy to swap.. use a little silicone grease on the connections and the heat sink plate as well, other than that you could use some thread lock on the screws just incase they rattle loose and start roaming around the dizzy but its really unlikely if you do them up properly...
